Baroque-inspired garments are in demand like never before and actually it is great that we will soon be in the midst of this year’s big party season. Several fashion houses have shown pieces in this pattern for the fall and winter of 2012, and we especially like Marchesa (above pictures).

The ornamented drama of the Baroque and Rococo periods returns in new ways, rebelling against the minimal and the financially conscious to show that obvious displays of luxury are still on the cards. From gilded filagree to embroidery, plush appliques to heavy brocades, going for Baroque is one way to stand out come fall.

Now it has also emerged a number of such garments in stores, so here’s a little inspiration:

  • Baroque Jacquard Shift Dress from Lipsy
  • Black Baroque Print Metal Frame Clutch Purse from NewLook
  • Black glitter baroque pencil skirt from River Island
  • Mini Bodycon Dress In Baroque Glitter from Asos
  • Gold Baroque Pearl Drop Earring from Debenhams
